Flashy new flyer ...
We have been in the studio recording our first studio album. To be released next month. We are very excited about it and we had a lot of fun making it. Just finalising the tracks and the artwork and all that stuff!
The year's bookings are filling up. Still room for a wedding or two sometime this year!
Merry Christmas from Jazzitation!
Time for a picture on the front page ...
Yes it is true we like beer ... and wine, but also we have two gigs coming up shortly where you can come and here Jazzitation with a real ale (or something else) in hand! Firstly Cottenham on 27th July, then Histon on 3rd September. Why not come and try the ale?!
Please note Sunday's gig at the Waggon and Horses in Linton now starts at 6pm!
Yes it's true, the new album is ready and available now. £5. Why not come down on Sunday and get your copy!
No sooner had we sorted our website out and we had another problem (thanks BT!). This problem has now been fixed and we are up and running again. Apologies to anyone wondered what had happened to us!
We now have a run of gigs up to Christmas and maybe, just maybe a live album coming out shortly!!
A hectic 3 days for Jazzitation - 2 gigs! Here's a picture of us after our wedding gig last friday - which went rather well!
Well our Wordpress website has ground to a halt for unknown reasons, so we've rewritten the site without Wordpress! Hopefully all the same information is available and you can contact us via email (jazzitation(at)gmail.com) or phone (01223 237767) as before.
Jazzitation is groovin’ on nicely! Regular visits to our favourite haunts – the Geldart, Ainsworth Street, Cambridge, the Willow Tree, Bourn, plus private functions keep us ticking along nicely. We are playing new songs at almost every gig so it’s getting tricky to choose the set now – we have too many favourites!
But if you are looking for classy music for your special occasion … look no further! We like to keep the songs succinct and yet joyously different every time. We are a genuine Cambridge jazz band! Yes, we have googled it too!
We enjoy it so we know you will too! Drop us a line at jazzitation(at)gmail.com! or give us a call on 01223 237767.
Peter, guitarist, founder member (it was his idea!), is leaving Cambridge for good and will be playing his last gig with us on Sunday 16th October at the Geldart. His replacement David, who has played a few gigs with us already, will also be playing that night. So, for a short while, Jazzitation will be a quartet! It is likely to be a busy night so book your table soon if you want to eat.
We wish Peter all the best for the future and look forward to hearing future bands!
The last few months have seen us settle into a one-gig-a-month routine. In July we were back at the Geldart for another busy Sunday night. August took us to Thriplow near Royston and a typical August evening, cold and rainy. But being a wedding reception everyone was determined to have a good time. We even had dancing to Jazzitation.
September took us back to the Snug and a surprisingly busy evening – for a Tuesday. Dave endured his injured knee as we played some more new songs – some more modern material. A great night.
April took us to Quendon Hall for a wedding, and what a beautiful occasion it was! The weather was amazingly warm and sunny, the guests were marvellous and we had a very pleasant afternoon of jazz.
In contrast Natalie’s party at the Boot in Histon was a much more buzzing affair! Kicked us (well me at least!) into another gear – a great night!
May took us back to the Geldart for another splendid evening. Standing room only to begin with, and our hardcore supporters keeping us going at the end – it was a sunday night after all! Thanks to everyone who came down!
And finally our first visit to the Snug on Lensfield Road. Enthusiastic and welcoming staff, and a surprisingly large crowd of followers, another excellent evening. We’ll be back there on 27th September and maybe before.
Thanks to Tom for the photo!
Gigs have gone a bit quiet for a while; we’ll probably be back to the Geldart in July, and there are few other possibilities in the offing and we might even go busking, so we might see you in town!
We played our first gig at the Willow Tree, Bourn last night and had a great time playing Ain’t Misbehavin’, As Time Goes By, Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man, Summertime and many other classics to a packed room.
It was a lovely venue to play in and it was a pleasure playing in front of an audience who were enjoying delicious food and (hopefully!) great music!
It’s been a little while coming but we’ve now got a band photo! It features Dave our dep guitarist, hopefully we will soon have one with Peter too!
We were back at the Geldart again last Sunday with Dave Esental on guitar as Peter was not available. We experimented with a vocal plus 2 guitar line up for a few songs to allow Dave to enjoy some soloing!
Another great night! An especially appreciative crowd albeit partisan! Thanks Dave.
We will be back at the Geldart later in the year, maybe in May.
If anyone has a photos of the gig we like to nab them and post them on the website!
We played our very first gig at The Geldart pub in Cambridge last Sunday and it went very well!
All tables were booked (ok, we don’t think that the large table occupied by the local football team came specifically to listen to us, but they were appreciative!) and we had a good reception from Elvis the landlord, the barstaff and most importantly, the customers.
Hopefully we’ll be back at The Geldart in the New Year.
We’ve been in the studio recording three of our favourite tunes so that our fans and anyone who’s interested in booking us can hear us. Enjoy!
